Georgie, like most other pureblooded witches and wizards, is related to all the other pureblooded witches and wizards in Britain. Her father's family has strong ties to the Wizarding Pureblood community in Britain, and her mother's side of the family comes from the Pureblooded community in France. Her father (Lawrence Smythe) secretly disagreed with the pureblood elitism of his parents, so he was excommunicated from his private family. This disagreement never came to light, and even his siblings never knew why. Well, not until much later.

Georgie's Mum (April) comes from a relatively respected line of witches and wizards in France. They harbor a dark secret that back a few generations Georgie's great great great great great great grandmother was muggle-born. When the Smythes (Sr.) found out that April had muggle blood in her background, Lawrence was given a choice to abandon his young wife and newborn daughter, or be disowned.

Father: Lawrence Smythe, former Slytherin, class of '47, works as a manager at Gringott's Bank in their International relations department--he spends a lot of time travelling (one of three brothers, the middle child, though he hasn't spoken with them in nearly twenty years.)
Mother: April Smythe, former Ravenclaw, class of '59, housewife and mother. Her family has hidden the secret of her heiratage for generations now by claiming all the documents concerning ____ (Georgie's great great great great grandmother was muggle-born) were destroyed in a fire.
Brother: Vincent Smythe, currently in his first year at Hogwarts School, was sorted into Slytherin.
Sister: Annie Smythe, is only three years old.
House Elf: Ellie (came from Georgie's Mum's side, speaks only French.)

April was very young, only freshly eighteen, when Georgie was born. The couple had only been married for three months, too, which may tell you something about why they were married, and another reason as to why their families didn't (and still don't) approve of their marriage. April came from a rather conservative, very religious background. Her relationship with her mother and father has been irreconcilably tarnished by her shotgun wedding.

Georgie has an eleven year old little brother named Vincent who has recently started at Hogwarts School. Her younger sister Annie is only three, and Georgie spends time watching her.

History:
Before she'd even left school, April found herself falling for one of her parents' friends' sons, Lawrence. She didn't think much of it, though, since he was nearly 10 years her senior, and far too sophisticated for her. She knew he was out of her league. Her parents, of course, were very fond of the proper, young gentleman, and were hoping for the two 'children' to wed. This would look very good for them, since they'd been successfully hiding their ancient muggle ancestry for so many years. They were proud that April had found herself a pureblooded man. They were even very supportive of the two spending time together. Perhaps too supportive.

April was visably pregnant by the time she took her NEWTs, after meeting up with Lawrence at a Hogsmeade visit at the beginning of the year. The two were married as soon as she finished school, and Georgina was born that October. (This made a lot of the wizarding families turn their noses up in disgust at the idea that April was "unpure" when they were married.)

The family was accepted into the proper wizarding circles through the first part of Georgie's life, until Lawrence's parents found out the dark secret about April's ancestry. It's still unclear how this unfortunate news came around. Lawrence was told. He was told he must abandon his wife and infant daughter, or be disowned from his family. After a screaming row that nearly blew the roof off their small house, Lawrence and April decided to stay together. They were in their marriage for love, not for their parents. Lawrence would be disowned. His parents, in shock, cut off all ties, but refused to explain why to anyone. Even Lawrence's brothers don't know why Lawrence was disowned.

Lawrence's wealth was in trust to him, so even though his ties to his parents were completely severed, his bank account didn't suffer. The secret remained safe, so his job and the family's standing in the community were both safe from the secret.

The family still swung in the pureblood circles, and Georgie was raised with the other pureblooded children, though Lawrence and April had slightly different (and very hidden) ideas about bloodism. Georgie was friends with the Black children, the Malfoys, the Dolohovs, the Macnairs, the Notts, the Lestranges. She was aware of the Potters and and the Prewetts, though her parents didn't associate with the "blood traitors" as much as the rest of the pureblooded elite. It was very confusing for Georgie to hear one thing from her friends and their parents, and hear a completely different thing from her own parents at home in sercret. The confusion only seemed to grow after she was sorted into Hufflepuff.

The Sorting hat was completely torn between the girl's desire to live up to her parents' name, and her desire to be friendly and happy. She was incredibly ambitious, but her desires were so scattered it was hard to get a good reading. She was loyal to a fault, and that won out in the long run. She was sorted into Hufflepuff. Her loyalty proved to be a serious problem during her sixth year at school, when she fell in love. The boy's name was Rembrant, and she was head over heels with him. They'd met during Georgie's first year, when they met in Hufflepuff. The two would act playfully and child-like together, building forts in the Common Room and having snowball fights on the grounds. Georgie didn't realize she was in love with him until her sixth year. At the same time her parents set up an arranged marriage for Georgie with another boy she'd grown up with; Antonin Dolohov.

She spent her Hogwarts years doing her best to live up to her parents' expectations, and to continue the friendships she started before school with the rest of the children from the pureblooded elite. She was able to make friends easily, and was never rude or unkind to anyone without a good reason to be. Most of her Hogwarts years were filled with confusion and clutziness. She was only slightly socially awkward, but so friendly she made up for it. When forced to choose between "us and them" she simply turned her back and walked away from everyone. She would never choose.

This caused problems at the end of her sixth year when the secret of her ancestry was spilled. Her engagement was broken, and she lost most of the friends she'd had since childhood. She lost a bunch of her newer Hufflepuff friends, too, who found her to be a little TOO torn up by having muggle blood in her family history. Georgie spent the remainder of her sixth year, and almost all of her seventh year avoiding people. It was impossible to keep everyone out, though, and she still had her friends.

When she finished Hogwarts, she moved to Hogsmeade to live on her own. She had a trust fund set up in her name (first opened by her grandparents, then contributed to by her parents) that she could use to live comfortably. Georgie chose to work, to keep herself occupied, and try to figure out what to do with the rest of her life. She wasn't expecting to open the store door one morning and find herself in a greenhouse. She was even further confused by the idea that the greenhouse was on a ship in the middle of some random ocean.

Occupational History:
Georgie was a student up until June of 1977. In September of that year she moved out of her parents' home, but stayed close. She took a modest flat in Hogsmeade--even though she could have afforded a rather nice house in the humble village--and took a job at the Apothecary there. She's been working for him for the past two years, collecting herbs and spices, and assisting with simple potion making.

Goals:
To make friends with everyone she meets. To never hurt anyone by having to choose between friends. To never come between anyone and something they love.

Appearance:
Georgie stands around 5'4" tall, and is of medium build. She has a pretty, round face that is nearly always smiling. Her blonde hair runs down to the middle of her back on most days, though she enjoys pulling it into plaids and ponytails for interesting looks. She wears bright colors normally, that go with her moods.

Normally Georgie can be found smiling or laughing, and almost always talking to someone. To anyone. She'll talk to herself if she cannot find someone to talk to. She can also be found singing to herself when she is alone, or sometimes dancing. She has a lovely singing voice.

Special Abilities/Powers:
None - Talented in Herbology and Potions, very good at falling down and hurting herself or catching things on fire by trying to charm them. Georgie speaks French and English fluently, as she was raised with both languages in her household. She doesn't read much French, as it was mostly spoken in her home. She also has a lovely singing voice.

Personality:
Georgie's goal in life is to be everyone's friend. This is a rather unacheivable goal, especially considering there are people in her world that would not like her simply because of the secret her family kept for so long. It doesn't stop Georgie from trying, though. "To Dream the Impossible Dream, to reach the unreachable star." She is stubborn and it takes a very, very long time to get her to stop trying to make people like her until. She has a natural talent (amplified with trained skill) for Herbology and Potions, but not for much else. She's clumbsy, and a lot of her charms backfire. The only charms she has perfected are Charms for water (to put out the fires caused by her other charms) and very simple healing charms. Many people saw Georgie fall down stairs at Hogwarts, since she fell down at least a flight a week. Georgie much prefers the magical activities that don't involve a wand, though. She loves being outside, with plants and creatures, and she loves flying--so long as she can hold on to the broom incredibly tightly. She's always been far too clumbsy to play Quidditch, though she loves the sport and enjoys watching it and cheering her teams on.

The leaking of her family's secret made Georgie's attitude and demeanor change considerably over the last couple years. Though her nature never changed. Bits of the bright and bubbly girl still shine through very often, and she's come out of her shell quite a bit more after time has passed. Since many on the ship are not aware of her family's secret, she will be mostly back to her old self on the ship.

Random Facts about Georgie:
~*~ The sorting hat was torn between putting her in Hufflepuff and putting her in Slytherin.

~*~ Georgie has only had sex once, with her fiance of the time.

~*~ Georgie was one year ahead of MWPP in school, and was friends with Peter Pettigrew.

~*~ Anyone who knew Georgie before or after school would call her either Georgina or Gina. Georgie was a nickname she adopted while she was in school.

Future: All that is known canonically about Georgie's future is that she phones into a radio show about Herbology. If she hadn't arrived on the Love Boat, she would have opened her own Herb/Potions shop, and made a good living for herself. The future Generations may have visited her shop in Hogsmeade to purchase potions, herbs, or supplies for class.

Where, eventually, do you see this character going?
Georgie wants to meet everyone on the ship. She will probably find something of a home in the Greenhouse or the Potions lab.

Do you have any future plans or ideas for what you want to do with your character?:
Well, Georgie and Remy have to meet back up after however long. Perhaps they already have in his timeline?
Georgie was probably somewhat aquainted with anyone from Hogwarts in the late seventies, so it would be fun to see her interact with them.

Anyone in the later years may know of Georgie's shop. She was very friendly with her customers, and knew a lot of the Hogwarts kids (especially those interested in Potions) by name.
